![]()
If you are thinking about leaving a relationship because of domestic violence but are hesitating because you don’t want to leave
your pet behind, call Hands of Ahava for assistance. Hands of Ahava can provide assistance for you and your pets.

What can you do to protect your pets?
- Develop an emergency plan for sheltering the pets, such as finding a safe place for them to stay. You can also contact the local animal shelter to see if they will provide temporaryshelter for your pet.
- Establish ownership of the pets: obtain an animal license, proof of vaccinations or veterinary receipts in your name to help prove who owns the pets
- Prepare the pets for departure (collect vaccination and medical records, medicine, collar, harness, leash, identification, medication, food, bowls, toys, bedding, tags etc.).
- Ask for assistance from law enforcement or animal care and control officers to reclaim pets if left behind.
